Implementation of Classes in 2023 (Notice)
2022/4/7
To all new and current students,
As in FY2022, Saitama University will conduct face-to-face classes in principle. However, remote classes will be conducted when high educational effects can be expected or when face-to-face classes cannot be conducted due to other special circumstances. Saitama University will continue to take measures against infectious diseases and students will attend classes.
Please refer to the previous announcement regarding the wearing of masks from April 2023. Students who have been infected with the new coronavirus, had close contact with the virus, or have symptoms of suspected infection should contact Saitama University and the teacher in charge of each class.
Students who have underlying medical conditions and have been advised by a doctor to refrain from attending school will be considered for alternative methods of participating in classes instead of face-to-face classes. Please fill out this application form and submit it to the department in charge of your faculty. (In FY2022, consideration was given to students who have a family member living with them who has an underlying medical condition that makes it difficult for them to commute to school or to international students who are unable to enter Japan, but they are not eligible for FY2023.)
In addition, on January 27, 2023, the government's task force on infectious diseases caused by new coronaviruses decided to change new coronavirus infectious diseases from category 2 infectious diseases to category 5 infectious diseases from May 8, 2023 (details here), and Saitama University is able to change its handling after May 8, 2023.
